Galerie de Jaloezie is a platform for audiovisual art founded by Anne Vera Veen and Gijs van der Meer. After their studies in Visual Anthropology, they felt the desire to continue their shared interest in experimental film and audiovisual installations. They have been doing this since December 2019 by organizing unusual film screenings, an annual 48-hour film challenge, open-air cinema and a pop-up gallery for audiovisual art. In various capacities - sometimes as a programmer and curator, sometimes as a maker, sometimes as workshop leaders, sometimes as a film producer and organizer of cultural events - they investigate the intersections between visual art and film and seek a hybrid form between cinema and gallery. The artistic experiment and the research process are central to all their activities.
